Jules Gomes reports for ChurchMilitant.com – Pope Francis is calling for the creation of migrant “pathways” as at least 20,000 mostly Muslim migrants are poised to sail from the coast of North Africa toward Italy.
In a letter to the European Commission, the Italian Interior Ministry warned that “a new emergency is approaching,” while Italian opposition party leader Maurizio Gasparri of Forza Italia called the influx an “invasion.”
“I am following the dramatic situation in Libya with great apprehension and sorrow,” Pope Francis said at the end of his Angelus message in St. Peter’s Square Sunday.
“I call on the international community to please take their plight to heart, identifying pathways and providing means to provide them with the protection they need, a dignified condition and a hopeful future,” Francis pleaded.
On Thursday, Vatican News reported that Pope Francis had dedicated his message for this year’s World Migrant and Refugee Day to the theme: “Forced like Jesus Christ to flee.”
Critics slammed the pontiff for his lack of discernment in promoting mass Islamic immigration, despite a growing awareness of Muslim immigration as “a bona fide doctrine of Islam” and the “methodically planned” recent tidal waves of Muslim migration.
“Pope Francis is working for the destruction of the remnants of Christian Europe,” eminent Islamic scholar Robert Spencer told Church Militant. “It is a sin against the Christian obligation to love one’s neighbor to welcome in a large group of people who are determined to convert, subjugate or kill that neighbor.”
Spencer, author of the best-selling The History of Jihad: From Muhammad to ISIS, said that “the Pope’s continued advocacy for mass migration, and his attempts to shame Christians into supporting it by claiming it is a manifestation of the Christian obligation to welcome the stranger, is nothing less than sinister.”
“Christians do not have and never have had an obligation to welcome those who are determined to conquer and subjugate them, as many of the migrants have made clear is their ultimate objective in accord with Islamic texts and teachings,” the director of Jihad Watch stressed.
A United Nations (U.N.) report in mid-May estimated around 650,000 migrants currently present in Libya trying to reach Europe and warned that “the COVID-19 public health crisis has not discouraged people from trying to reach Europe, especially due to the tense situation in Libya, and the exacerbation of the conflict between the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) and the House of Representatives (HoR).”
The report pointed out that “the travel and movement restrictions caused by COVID-19 are not stopping the movement of people fleeing conflict, violence and dangerous and inhuman conditions.”
In fact, the closure of borders could result “in an increase smuggling of migrants” since “[p]eople have an even greater need for the services of smugglers in order to cross borders … exposing migrants and refugees to increased abuse, exploitation and human trafficking,” the report noted.
“We were expecting something like that. Those people in North Africa want to reach Europe. They will use every possible means to do it, especially as summer is coming and the weather gets better. If the government does not act quickly and effectively, it will be an invasion,” Gasparri told Arab News.
According to the Interior Ministry in Rome, 5,461 migrants, 818 of them Tunisians, have reached Italy on fishing boats and dinghies since the beginning of the year. In the same period in 2019, only 1,878 made the journey.
Pope Francis said he was praying “for the thousands of migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons in Libya” and “the health situation has aggravated the already precarious conditions in which they find themselves, making them more vulnerable to forms of exploitation and violence.”
Calling the migrant flood a “massive invasion,” Islamic scholar Sam Solomon told Church Militant that Muslim immigration to the West was “doctrinally grounded on Muhammad’s Hijra — his migration from Mecca to Medina.”
“Muhammad’s own migration is the model for Muslims to emulate by migrating to non-Muslim lands and engaging in Islamic mission (dawa) until its host citizens submit to Allah,” said Solomon, co-author of Modern Day Trojan Horse: Al-Hijra, the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, Accepting Freedom or Imposing Islam?
“Immigration is viewed as a transitional period of preparation for transforming the host society from an open, or non-Muslim, society into an Islamic society or at least one where Islam would be supreme,” writes Solomon.
“Muhammad himself made it clear that ‘migration is a duty that needs to be upheld forever or until the earth has submitted to Islamic hegemony,'” Solomon argues, citing Muhammad’s instruction in a hadith: “O people, immigrate, holding on to Islam, for Hijra or migration is to continue as long as jihad continues.”
Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi unveiled the migration master plan in his 2006 speech: “We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe without swords, without guns, without conquests. The 50 million Muslims of Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.”
“In 10 years we will all be Muslims because of our stupidity,” declared archbishop emeritus of Pompeii Carlo Liberati in a 2017 interview with La Fede Quotidiana.
Church Militant reported a 2019 address by Cdl. Raymond Burke, prefect emeritus of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, emphasizing that opposition to “large-scale Muslim immigration is a responsible exercise of one’s patriotism.”
Burke warned the West of “immigrants who are opportunists, in particular in the case of Islam, which by its definition believes itself to be destined to rule the world, coming in large numbers to countries.”
A report released earlier in June revealed that Italian taxpayers were paying over €4,000 per month per migrant in order to maintain the quarantine on board the Moby Zaza ferry.
Alessandro Pagano, a member of Matteo Salvini’s Lega Party, slammed the costs, saying: “We are not talking about a third-hand dinghy, but of a ship equipped with a self-service restaurant, pizzeria, ice cream parlor, pub with special wine assortment, play area and video room, double or quadruple cabins with services and even luxury suites.”
