Dear CF News,

I hope this email finds you safe and well at this strange time. I am writing to you because I have a place at Franciscan University of Stubenville, Ohio, starting this August. I have been awarded the Provost Scholarship which is worth £9,600 ($12,000) per annum. However, I still have to fund the rest of my expenses, which would come to £9,750 ($12,200) per semester.

I am an 18 year old Catholic convert from Manchester in the UK. I have been a Catholic for half of my life (from the age of 9) in the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.

I have made the decision to study at Franciscan because it offers an education that is deeply rooted in the truth and centred around God. The reason I feel so passionately about Catholic education is that I believe to bring the joy of the gospel to the world I have to understand it. Franciscan has built a reputation for forming joyful disciples of Christ that greatly impact the communities in which they live. I have been accepted to study Humanities and Catholic Culture, a Liberal Arts course which focuses on the truth, goodness and beauty of the Catholic faith through a study of culture.

I am asking if you would be able to contribute in some way to this venture, either financially, through your prayers or by sharing this with someone that you think would be interested in helping. Any help you can give will be received with so much gratitude.

The most secure way to give is through GoFundMe

If you have any questions then don’t hesitate to get in touch. I would be more than happy to arrange a call.

This venture might seem like an ambitious undertaking, however I am encouraged by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who said, ‘we were not created for an easy life, but for great things, for goodness’.

God bless,

Henry Starkie
